Spin

I still abhor Spin Class.

Spin not only ruined my sex life, but it also ruined my weekend. According to my list, the class I went to was on Thursday but I feel like I just hopped off the bike an hour ago. I have been walking like a grandma all weekend, all dude, I am too sore to crouch down with you. can't you just bring me the blocks? I limp and gait like I just climbed off of a horse. A groan emits for each downhill stair I step. Mellow has taken to imitating all of my grunts and mimics me ever time he moves, too.

My ass has not yet stopped being sore. I thought that I was feeling better until I straddled the stairway gate. This is an ordinary gate, on an ordinary step, with an ordinary straddle. Yet, Saturday when I did the usual step-and-straddle I somehow managed to place the baby gate's top railing in the same bruised nether regions that the bicycle seat hit. I yelped, squatted, jumped, and tried to move too quickly. The gate and I came crashing down in a big heap, with me howling like a man who just lost his family jewels. Mellow, who currently thinks anything falling is funny, peeked around the corner and began giggling at the howling heap. B didn't move off of the sofa, all spin class injury? and my look was all screwyou.

This is simply an aside, an amusing aside to let me not complain about all of the other aching part of my body: thighs, calves, back, abs, and feet. It is only because of this extreme soreness that I will insist on going back. This shit hurts like hell and must be worth it. MUST BE. Because I am not quite this sore after weight lifting or step aerobics, and I sweat twice as much in those classes. And will I sacrifice sex for hot springtime legs? Damn hard question...

  1. I followed your link from dooce's site to this post. I teach spin and just wanted to say that it's definitely worth it. (And it hasn't impacted my sex life!) After the first few classes that sore/bruised feeling goes away, truly it does. What other class can you burn 500 calories per hour on average?
